Tips and Tricks when using DecFoils

Uncoated Vs Coated Cardstocks

Thermoweb do recommend coated cardstock when using the Deco Foils as these are what they use for their in-house printing. However, you might still be able to get away with uncoated cardstocks but the manufacturer recommend testing as your printer will play a big role in the quality of the print and thus the transfer of the foil to the toner. Heavier toner output is always recommended to ensure an excellent transfer of the foil with a laminator.

Iron Vs Laminator

Thermoweb recommend a laminator or heat press as they both give consistent pressure and heat for a good transfer. However, people were able to get good results using iron. The key is to play around with the temperature setting (wool/silk setting). Slowly increase the temperature until you get a good coverage. It's easier to use thick and bond fonts for sentiments and have the laser printer set on the best quality print out put to make sure the high coverage of the toner on the paper.
